Renovation of residential building & parish centre in Langnau i.E.

Langnau_Ansicht_quer-1.jpg

The Wältihaus, rebuilt after a fire in 1892, is the oldest building on Oberfeldstrasse in Langnau and now serves as a residential building and parish centre. The impressive five-storey building is a listed monument.

The wooden shingles on the south and west sides were badly weathered and needed to be replaced. We took great care in installing around 175,000 new shingles that were true to the original. They were first primed with pure linseed oil and then treated twice with it after installation.

We provided the following services for this project:

  • Advising the client on renovation options

  • Demolition of the existing wooden shingle façade

  • Installation of new round shingles in the original format made from Swiss spruce wood
