Treatment of wood shingle façades with linseed oil paints

​A coat of paint gives a wood shingle façade a distinctive look and protects it from the elements. Treatment is often carried out, particularly on cut spruce shingles.
 
We use only natural linseed oil paints for this purpose. They are ideal for wood shingles as they are vapour-permeable, elastic and particularly easy to maintain. Unlike modern synthetic resins, linseed oil paint penetrates deep into the wood and forms a base to which subsequent coats of linseed oil paint bond reactively and permanently.

This protects the wood shingles from the elements for decades. Thanks to the high elasticity of the linseed oil paint, the coating remains flexible even as the wood moves naturally and does not crack. Even scratches have little effect on the protective properties, as the paint penetrates deep into the wood.
 
If desired, linseed oil coats can be refreshed an unlimited number of times without the need for time-consuming sanding beforehand, as is the case with conventional paint systems. Furthermore, they contain no plastics and therefore do not release microplastics.

We have developed a three-stage system with a specially formulated blend that guarantees optimum protection for the shingles: a dipped primer that protects the shingles on all sides and deep into the wood, followed by two coats of paint after installation.

Linseed oil paints are available in a wide range of colours. It is also possible to have special colours produced, for example for listed buildings.
